Mr Manservisi has a long career in the development departments of the European Commission. He has dealt with, inter alia, the African, Caribbean and Pacific countries and the Phare programme. He has worked as deputy head of the cabinet of Mario Monti and thereafter head of cabinet of President Romano Prodi in 2001 – 2004. He has been visiting professor at the Universities of Roma III, Bologna and the Parma European College.
