The Center on US Politics and Power at the Finnish Institute of International Affairs is pleased to announce the second Summer Session on Smarter Forms of Hard and Soft Global Power in Helsinki on September 9-11, 2015. The CUSPP Summer Session is an interdisciplinary event, convening researcher and expert audiences.

The Summer Session will examine the changing landscape of Western global power as it is becoming smarter, more combination-based, increasingly networked, and more dependent on the integration of new domains such as cyber and economic tools. The program will include thematic workshops and keynote presentations given by researchers on a wide range of topics related to smarter forms of power. The opening ceremony and specific sessions will be open to the public.

The keynote speakers include:

– Jan Techau, Director of Carnegie Europe

– Steven Erlanger, London Bureau Chief of The New York Times

– Peter Trubowitz, Professor, Director of the US Centre, London School of Economics (LSE) and Political Science

The Center on US Politics and Power aims to provide research and expertise on US foreign and domestic policy, transatlantic relations and the US role in global politics and economy. The Center carries out its functions by conducting research and publishing to various audiences as well as by organizing seminars and conferences.
