The "China Menace"

Senior Research Fellow at the Institute Bart Gaens wrote an article about Japan’s security policies formulated last summer and China’s role in them. The policies were aimed at enabling Japan to adapt to an “increasingly severe” regional security environment. Even though China was not explicitly mentioned, it is clear that Tokyo views China’s rise as one of the newly emerging “complex and significant national security challenges”.
The article was published in Japan Today in the end of December 2014.
