The Finnish Institute of International Affairs welcomes Dr. Tarja Cronberg as a Senior Advisor. She will be with FIIA until the end of January 2010.

Her task is to provide the institute with an analysis on the challenges of nuclear disarmament in the post-cold war era. The work is expected to produce insights for the strategic discussion on nuclear disarmament internationally.

Dr. Cronberg holds two doctoral degrees in Science: Economics and Business Administration as well as Technology. She was the Director of Copenhagen Peace Research Institute (COPRI) from 2001 to 2003. She has also led an international research programme on the US and Russian military industries and their conversion into civilian production.
 
During her years as an MP in the Finnish Parliament (2003 – 2007), Dr. Cronberg was a member of the Defence Committee and an alternate member of the Foreign Affairs Committee. From 2007 to 2009 she served as the Minister of Labour in the Finnish Government and was a member of the Cabinet Committee on Foreign and Security Policy.
