Helsinki Climate Forum: Arctic Urgency and the Finnish Institute of International Affairs organise an arctic writing competition as a part of the Helsinki Climate Forum: Arctic Urgency conference on 28 September 2013.

Anyone can take part in the competition with a short essay discussing the Arctic and climate change which is either 10 000 characters or 5 pages long maximum (line spacing 1.5 p). The essay should be information-based, but the style is free. The deadline for participation is 15 August 10 September. The essay can be written either in Finnish or English, and it should be sent in .odt, .doc, .docx or .pdf format to info@helsinkiclimateforum.org.

The winners of the first round will be selected by the Helsinki Climate Forum Organising Team. The best three (at most) essays will be given an honourable mention, and the writers of these essays are invited to compete for the first prize with a presentation based on their essays at the conference on 28 September. The final decision on the winner will be given and the prize will be granted by the Finnish Institute of International Affairs.

Helsinki Climate Forum: Arctic Urgency is a high-profile conference on climate change bringing together leading global and Finnish thinkers & doers in a dialogue for solving the climate change challenge. Helsinki Climate Forum: Arctic Urgency will be organised by University of Helsinki Student Union Committee for Environment at the University of Helsinki on 28 September 2013.
