FIIA Advisory Council, appointed by the Chancellery Commission of the Parliament, convened in its current composition for the first time on 19 September. The Council selected MP Mikko Savola to chair and MP Saara-Sofia Sirén to vice-chair the body.

–          The Finnish Institute of International Affairs carries out important work as an independent research institute. The institute provides foreign policy expertise and produces information to the public debate. A strong and independent FIIA is in the best interest of our society, Savola states.

The Council‘s duties include monitoring the Institute’s operations and liaising with relevant FIIA stakeholders. In addition, the Advisory Council monitors the societal impact of the Institute’s activities. The Council serves a four-year term of office, which commenced in June 2019.

–          I want to see the Advisory Council’s role as an open and essential communicator between FIIA and its stakeholders.
