Ulkopolitiikka journal awarded

The Finnish Journal of International Affairs, “Ulkopolitiikka” has been awarded distinction (“kunniamaininta”) in the Quality Journal of the Year 2008 Competition.

The award-winnings were publicized on Thursday, October 23th at the Helsinki Book Fair. The award of the Quality Journal is granted by the Organization of the Cultural, Opinion and Scientific Journals (Kultti ry) and the bookstore Akateeminen Kirjakauppa.

On the Ulkopolitiikka journal, the jury stated as follows: “Ulkopolitiikka journal fosters quality journalism at its best. The journal’s articles are of supreme quality and the topics are important. The journal offers excellent data on the topical issues of the world politics. It has also a distinctive graphic identity.”

The competition was open for all its member journals of which 39 participated in this year’s competition. The jury comprised of graphic designer Jesper Vuori, professor of journalism Henrika Zilliacus-Tikkanen, program director of the Turku Book Fair Kari J. Kettula and the bookstore Akateeminen Kirjakauppa’s purchaser Pasi Somari. The northern cultural journal Kaltio won the competition.

The Organization of the Culture, Opinion and Scientific Journals, Kultti ry, has 184 Finnish, Swedish and English language journals as its members.
