On 15-16 September, FIIA hosted in cooperation with National Intelligence Council (USA) and Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland a closed roundtable conference to discuss transatlantic energy security especially focusing on Ukraine and the Arctic. The conference consisted of several panel sessions on the following topics:

1. Energy Security on the Transatlantic Agenda: Common and Diverging Interests?
Lessons learned of the Russia-Ukraine gas crisis and providing alternatives for lessening
dependence

2. The Arctic in Energy Security: Legal and Geoeconomic Aspects
The international legal framework for exploiting Arctic energy resources. Exploitation of
Arctic energy resources: by whom and how much, when and at what price?

3. The Arctic in Energy Security: Geopolitical Aspects
Military developments in the Arctic and their impact on energy security:
should there bean arms control regime for the Arctic?

4. A Transatlantic Energy Security Agenda for the Future
Energy security and NATO. Should there be an integrated energy market for the EU?
What is the role of the Energy Charter Treaty?
