The Finnish Institute of International Affairs is recruiting
3 RESEARCHERS for its research programmes on
– The European Union,
– International Politics of Natural Resources and the Environment and
– The Transformation of the World Order.
The contracts are for fixed term, starting at the earliest on March 2009 and lasting until the end of 2010.
The positions can be at different levels.
For the post of Senior Researcher, the applicants must hold a doctorate and must, through previous academic and public activities, have demonstrated their suitability for the position. Depending on qualifications and experience the salary range is from 3900-4100 €.
Researcher positions exist on two levels.
Experienced Researchers must hold either a doctorate or master’s degree and must, through previous academic and public activities, have demonstrated their experience and suitability for the research work. Depending on qualifications and experience the salary is approximately 3100 €.
Other Researchers must hold a university degree and have prior experience in conducting and writing research. Depending on qualifications and experience, the salary is approximately 2600 €.
The applicants can have acquired their experience and education in Finland or abroad.
We expect from the applicants to possess excellent language and communication skills.
Applicants may also express their own salary preference.
The European Union Research Programme
Applicants are expected to have in-depth knowledge of the functions and structure of the European Union.
We welcome applicants with expertise especially in the following fields:
– EU neighbourhood and enlargement policies
– The EU as a strategic actor

International Politics of Natural Resources and the Environment
Applicants are expected to have a firm knowledge of international climate policy.
We welcome applicants with expertise especially in the following fields:
– climate politics and policies of the major emitters (countries, country groups) policies
– the main negotiation areas and the institutional design of the post-2012 international climate pact as well as its implementation
– economic and political aspects of the post-2012 international climate pact

The Transformation of the World Order
Applicants are expected have an excellent knowledge of the United States political system, economics and administrative structure.
We welcome applicants with expertise especially in the following fields:
– Transatlantic relations: the European Union and the United States
– The United States as an international political and economic actor
